Samsung ‘Safety Truck’ Has Large Screen On Back To Make Overtaking Safer

Samsung is set to start trials of its new safety truck, which features large screens on the back to enable other road users to overtake safely.

Four large weatherproof TV screens on the rear of the Volvo vehicles are hooked up to two cameras on the front to give those driving behind a perfect view of the road ahead.

The truck was previously unveiled as a concept, but this is the first time that a prototype vehicle will be used on the roads as part of a real-world trial.

La Plata, Argentina was chosen as the test site due to its high number of overtaking-related car accidents.

The innovative road safety system is “an invention that we believe will change the history of road safety,” says Sang Jik Lee, President of Samsung Electronics Argentina.

The aim is to reduce the amount of accidents that occur when drivers try to overtake without having a clear view of the road ahead.

The trial is set to last for a year and if successful, the trucks could be rolled out in other countries at a later date.
