    San Antonio-based Orthopaedic & Spine Institute Adds Chronic Pain Management Center of Excellence

    The Orthopaedic and Spine Institute has reorganized and expanded operations to include integrating pain management as part of the medical services organization provider offerings. This growth strategy is a natural fit with orthopaedic and neurological procedures, as well as, their other centers of excellence.

    The addition of a chronic pain management center and the expansion of the Orthopaedic and Spine Institute in San Antonio is the logical progression for a growing need to provide full coverage and patient care. The primary goal of this interdisciplinary approach is to ease the suffering and improve the daily quality of life for patients. The pain management approach includes therapy, analgesics, and occasionally anxiolytics.

    The chronic pain management center of excellence is in addition to existing centers of excellence, including: Aesthetics and Vascular Vein Center, Orthopaedic Rehabilitative Exercise Center, Excellence in Neurosurgery, Minimally Invasive Spine Center, Medically Supervised Weight Loss Center, and Excellence in Joint and Extremity Surgery Center.

    The chronic pain management center of excellence will offer a host of treatment plans, all encompassed within the OSI medical centers. OSI's pain center includes orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Steven J. Cyr; neurosurgeon, Dr. Issada Thongtrangan; and pain doctor, Dr. Michael S. McKee to contribute the highest level of care within the pain managment discipline. Founder of the Orthopaedic and Spine Institute, Dr. Steven J. Cyr, FAAOS said, "the addition of Dr. McKee and Dr. Thongtrangan to the chronic pain center will offer patients a chance to regain a positive experience in their daily routines, and ease suffering".
