    San Francisco Coffee and Wine Bar Ma’Velous Now Carries Stumptown Coffee Roasters

    Ma’Velous is the only place in San Francisco that serves Portland’s Stumptown Coffee Roasters.

    Ma’Velous, the new San Francisco wine bar on Market Street, now carries Stumptown Coffee Roasters, a premium brand of coffee from Portland, Oregon. Ma’Velous is the only place to carry the freshly roasted coffee in the city. In addition to savoring the java in Ma’Velous’ eco-chic space, roasted coffee beans are available for retail purchase, so the same coffee can be enjoyed at home.

    "It's a treat," Duane Sorenson, owner and founder of Stumptown Coffee Roasters told Portland Business Journal about his special roasted coffee. "The aroma is incredible." Sorenson, who is a 15-year veteran of the coffee business, is known for using a coffee roaster made in 1919 to roast his coffee. He says it is the oldest coffee roaster in commission in the country.

    To select the raw beans that will be used for their roasted coffee, Stumptown Coffee Roasters taste coffee made from bean samples from all over the world, including Ethiopia and Guatemala.

    “Each sample gets sniffed, slurped up and vetted through silver spoons hundreds of times a day in our cupping laboratory,” Stumptown explains. “The delicate hand-picked seeds containing sugars and natural perfumes are roasted in our old-school, cast-iron German Probat machines.”

    Ma’Velous allows San Francisco residents and visitors a comfortable spot to indulge in artisan coffees handcrafted by professional baristas brewed in one of six different ways. The wine and coffee bar also offers live music and great San Francisco happy hour specials.

    Since opening a short time ago, Ma’Velous has received great reviews. One Yelp reviewer wrote: “They serve only the premium specialty coffees. The barista (and owner) definitely took great care in crafting my mocha. I love the ambiance and vibe of this place. It is incredibly unique, hip, and modern.”
