Santorum accuses pro-Romney PAC of lying in SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Republican Rick Santorum complained bitterly Monday that a political action committee that supports presidential rival Mitt Romney is lying about his record.

He called on Romney, the front-runner in the nomination race, to ask the group to edit or remove its advertisements from the air before Saturday's pivotal primary in South Carolina.

Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, is trying to emerge as the preferred conservative in the primary, where evangelical conservatives — for whom Santorum is making an aggressive pitch — make up an influential bloc.

Santorum countered Monday by launching an ad attacking Romney, his first such ad of the campaign.

Whatever needs to be done to prevent this man (Santorum) from being President. His thoughts and plans for a "Christian" America should scare every thinking person.
      • Fred 4 mths ago
While a "Christian nation" does not scare me, legislating Christian values into law does. We are a free country and no religion should legislate their values on others.

JUST VOTE RON PAUL FOR TOTAL GRIDLOCK.

I am not as afraid of Christian principals as I am of radical muslims. They have openly declared war on all non muslims in the world.

So this is supposed to be news??? ALL of them are LIARS--Dimocraps and Republidiots alike!!
    • Roger  •  4 mths ago
This is too funny - one politician accusing the other of not being truthful - priceless.

It looks like Ricky has won a battle and lost the war. Gaining the support of the evangelical Christian leaders of South Carolina will help him with the rest of the country as much as the support of the KKK. The only "kiss-of-death" worse is an endorsement from GW Bush.
      • dlorah 4 mths ago
Why don;t ou Bush bashers take your vitriolic hate and shove it where the sun don't shine. I supposse he was responsible for the sinking of that cruise ship in Italy.
      • dlorah 4 mths ago
Seems to me that Mr. R. E. Byrd (d) of WV got elected by the KKK and really had nothing to do with the republicans. Notice the (d)?

I can't believe somebody would spread lies during a political campaign. Only a person of little character would do such a thing.

What? Lying in politics? What is the world coming to? The problem isn't the lying super pacs, it's the gullible voters who believe anything that they see on tv.
      • KarlS 4 mths ago
This manure is aimed at the haters that want to believe it or the totally low IQ gullible that believe anything without question if it comes from a "reliable source" like FOX News. With all the fact checkers and information on the internet, it is sad no one questions it and if you post the truth on here, you are slaughtered by the FOX fools that "know that's a lie". Am I right? You can't fix stupid, can you?
      • Franklin Brown 4 mths ago
Because they still believe the lie that everyone has a chance to be one of the super rich. And with the population of this country and the world for that matter, it's just not going to happen. Once this is realized, than just maybe we can get this country back on the right track.

Santorum opposed contraception, opposed Darwin's theory of evolution, defended sexual abuse by Catholic priests, and defended Bush's disaster in Iraq. Since Bachmann and Perry are finished, it looks like Santorum is the bible-thumping heir apparent.

Ricky said "He has a long track record of sending out his henchmen ... to go out and not talk about himself but try to spread disinformation." This is news, Ricky? Come on, that's basic Rebublicanism 101. It also includes throwing mud and creative hypocrisy. It's your party; you can cry if you want to.

What a clown car. This whole crowd of republican candidates is just too pathetic for words. This would be funny if they actually were a bunch of spoiled children - it is just scary to think that people like this can actually rise to power.

Although I disagree with most everything Ron Paul stands for, he is the only person that is respectable and mature.

Santorum is a theocrat who wants to ban contraception and start a war with Iran. What's not to love?
    • Jay Pegg  •  4 mths ago
Rick Santorum, when in the Senate, voted for the infamous “bridge to nowhere” in Alaska.
    • Sam  •  Denver, Colorado  •  4 mths ago
Oh Ricky.. Don't get all frothey about this.
    • warhrse  •  4 mths ago
Oh. I don't like it when people tell lies and stories and say bad things about others. I would never do something like that. It would be self serving and would put me at the top of the rep pols. However I do feel I have to tell you about this one horrible person. The guy ahead of me in the pols. Why I heard......................
    • Eggman  •  4 mths ago
Stop the attacks boys and give us your agenda. We are not interested in the mud you want to sling at each other. American voters are only interested in how YOU are going to make America better.
      • Kevin 4 mths ago
that is the problem, none of the REpublicans have a plan ot make America better, only plans to try to divide America between the haves and the have nots!
      • cerberus 4 mths ago
that is their plan, eggy, get americans hating other americans......while they loot and pillage the constitution...and the banks.
      • Eggman 4 mths ago
Kevin............ Obama has been in office for over 3 yrs now and he still has no plan........

Although I would never vote for or endorse Rick for anything I agree with him on this. Romney's super pac is a modern day hit squad hell-bent on destroying anyone in his way. My America First Initiative would outlaw these super pacs and make these candidates speak for themselves.
      • Sub Missive 4 mths ago
I totally agree. I think smear campaigns, even if done by outsiders, should be illegal.
      • Franklin Brown 4 mths ago
Actually Rick Perry also has a super pac. His pac started negative ads back in Iowa. Rick needs them because if he had to speak himself, well you just never know what assnine statement he's going to make.
    • Jay Pegg  •  4 mths ago
Let's mix religion heavily into our politics. Look how nicely it works in Iran and Saudi Arabia.
    • Kevin  •  4 mths ago
I just hope but know it won't change, that the Republicans that are gripeing about others lying about them, will remember that when the general starts and they won't start their lying about Obama! But we all know that they will keep right on lying about Obama as if a Republican politician opens his mouth it is a lie, period!
    • 1beerhawg  •  4 mths ago
Yeah! theres some lying alright and santorums doing a lot of it.
    • BobAD  •  Newton, Iowa  •  4 mths ago
A good politician never told a lie about anyone only the truth as he sees it.
