Sarah Palin Rebukes Chris Christie, Showing Her Power and Influence

COMMENTARY | New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Mitt Romney supporter, opined that Newt Gingrich, his man's main rival for the Republican nomination, had embarrassed the Republican Party. This fetched him a sharp rebuke from Sarah Palin, according to Hot Air.

The imbroglio started when Christie, according to the New York Daily News, laid into Gingrich on "Meet the Press," stating Gingrich had been "Run out of the speakership by his own party" and that he "has been an embarrassment to the party."

This statement brought a response from Palin, who stated Christie had made a "rookie mistake" and had played into the media's hands. Just to turn the knife a little, Palin reminded everyone that Christie has done some embarrassing things as well such as using a state helicopter to his child's baseball game.

It should be noted Palin is still not giving a general endorsement of Gingrich or any other candidate. While she had coyly suggested she would have voted for Gingrich if she lived in South Carolina, she refused to state the same advice presuming she lived in Florida while on the "Sean Hannity Show," according to Newsmax. With becoming albeit disingenuous modesty, Palin said her endorsement doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

Also a nuclear bomb does not make a very big explosion and a hurricane doesn't make a lot of wind and rain.

Palin was accused of teasing when she publicly weighed the possibility of running for president during the summer and fall. It is more likely that she was really conflicted about the prospect and at the last minute decided to let the cup pass from her lips.

But now she is just teasing with the endorsement issue. Whether she will or won't endorse and whom gives her Fox News counterparts something to open with before the conversation goes to the meat of the matter.

That means she will be a frequent commentator on the election, which further means she will cast a broad shadow over the contest. Candidates and their surrogates like Christie are going to have to take into account the question: What will Palin say? Her influence thus is as great as if she were actually running.

The Kardashian's are on the way out. Only a matter of time before Sarah follows. Pity the few who think her opinion matters regarding anything.

I am a New Jersey voter who has never been fond of Christie, but he has more experience than Palin. The classification of "rookie" is above her rating! When Christie goes back at her with one of his patented "sweetheart" comments, he will earn my vote as long as he runs for anything!

I'm a liberal and I'd vote for Christie before I'd ever vote for Palin, why? Brains. She's so effin' uneducated and clueless. Sometimes I want to choke McCain out for unleashing that idiot on America!

        You're funny, George...and I completely agree.

You know, I saw a video of Palin during the debates during her run for governor of Alaska. She was articulate, direct, and concise. Ever since I saw that video, I wondered what the hell happened between then and now? Did she realize that being a crazy moron gave her more attention and made her more money? And if she was just well-coached for that debate, why didn't it carry over to the 2008 debates? Oh well. Who knows? It seems like the country is coming to the same conclusion; Sarah Palin's completely unfit to hold public office.

"Palin reminded everyone that Christie has done some embarrassing things as well such as using a state helicopter to his child's baseball game."

Gee, did she forget about the times that she flew her children around the country and didn't have to pay a dime?

So, Palin thinks Christie made a "rookie" mistake. Who is she to rate the performance of ANYBODY? This woman is a train wreck! She is completely irrelivant. But, the people at "Blond Foxy Lady News" will continue to put this babbling idiot on TV. She rambles, and rambles on some more without saying ANYTHING. She steals the oxygen from any room she's in when her mouth opens. Why doesn't Fox put John McCain on. He has REAL experience and can offer a thought worth listening to.

Who does she think she is she has no right to criticize anyone after what she did to the people of Alaska by quitting mid term and being the biggest political embarasment to the system with her off the wall manner.
I am Alaskan and she needs to stay at home and keep quiet the more she pokes her nose into politics the more it will help the Democrats

Christie would chew Palin up and spit her out in a debate and use her bones to pick his teeth.

I'm not sure why the writer believes Palin has so much influence. She doesn't. She is a sideshow at best, freelancing at Fox because she can't do anything else. She didn't run for president because she made such a fool of herself as the VP candidate. Terrible article.
    • Matt  •  Oakland, California  •  4 mths ago
Palin is still alive? Go figure.
    • Richard S  •  4 mths ago
Shouldn't that headline read, "Palin Attempts to Show Power and Influence That Permanently Departed Her Orbit Over a Year Ago"?
    • Daniel  •  Randolph, New Jersey  •  4 mths ago
I may not like Christie's personality, but I think he represents a new hope for the GOP for a new generation of leaders who actually STICK to small government and fiscal discipline, stay out of the social arena as much as possible (they do not belong there anyway), and who are not enslaved to the neocons and religious right. Palin, naturally, does not like what she see's because she embodies everything that lead the GOP into its current, messy predicament; blind ideology, shallow opportunism, and valuing the spotlight over accomplishments.
