Saudi Arabia publicly beheads woman in Mecca for minor step-daughter's murder

London, Jan 17 (ANI): Saudi Arabia publicly beheaded a Burmese woman in Mecca for sexual abuse and murder of her seven-year-old step-daughter. According to The Independent, Laila Bint Abdul Muttalib Basim, a Burmese woman who resided in Saudi Arabia, was executed by sword on Monday after being dragged through the street and held down by four police officers. A video of the execution posted online showed the woman screaming "I did not kill. I did not kill," as she took three blows that led to her intended death. The video was later removed by YouTube in the wake of its policy on "shocking and disgusting content". The Saudi Ministry of the Interior said in a statement that it believed the sentence was warranted due to the severity of the crime, the report added. (ANI)
