ROCKWOOD, Pa. (AP) — A school bus has collided with a tractor-trailer in western Pennsylvania, and helicopters have been dispatched from area hospitals to the crash site.
Pennsylvania troopers did not have details about the crash near Rockwood. The Daily American newspaper of Somerset County reported on its website that the bus and the truck collided around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Rhonda Hoover, secretary to the superintendent of the Turkeyfoot Area School District, said there were students on the bus but she did not know how many. She said they were taken to Somerset Hospital after the accident.
Hoover says Superintendent Darlene Pritt has gone to the scene.
Television footage from a station WPXI helicopter suggests the front of the vehicles collided on a rural highway. The main body of the bus appeared to be intact.
