Seahawks reinstate CB Browner following suspension
Cornerback Brandon Browner's four-week suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy is over, and the Seattle Seahawks reinstated him to their active roster on Monday.
To make room on the roster, the Seahawks put cornerback Walter Thurmond on injured reserve.
Rather than appeal his suspension, Browner served it so he'd be eligible to return for the postseason. Fellow cornerback Richard Sherman won his appeal of a four-game suspension so he did not miss any games.
Presumably Browner will return to the starting lineup for Sunday's playoff game against Washington, but when he was out, rookie Jeremy Lane and second-year cornerback Byron Maxwell got more playing time, which may help the Seahawks in the playoffs.
"If (Browner) is not quite right or if he doesn't get off to a good start during the week, we've got other guys who can play for him," Seattle coach Pete Carroll said, according to ProFootballTalk.com. "But we're going to give him a heck of a chance to play. We're thrilled to get him back and we'll see what happens."
