Second presidential debate tweets exceed 7.2 million
Voters took to Twitter during Tuesday evening’s presidential debate, in numbers that would make a binder full of women burst.
Users sent more than 1 million tweets during the first 23 minutes of the debate. By almost an hour into the debate, that number had more than tripled to 3.5 million tweets sent.
In total, users watching the debate between 9 p.m. and 10:39 p.m. sent 7.2 million tweets.
“This is more than the entire VP Debate last week,” said Twitter’s Government & Politics team. 3.5 million tweets were sent during the vice presidential debate.
The first presidential debate, however, still holds the Twitter record, with 10.2 million tweets sent during a U.S. political event.
