    Sean P. McDonough, recognized expert on SharePoint disaster recovery (DR) and SharePoint performance management, will be a featured speaker at SharePoint Saturday Austin hosting the session:

    “The Essentials of SharePoint Disaster Recovery” at 4:10 - 5:00 p.m.

    “Are nightly SQL Server backups good enough?” “Is an off-site disaster recovery facility needed?” “How does one even start the process of disaster recovery planning?”  These are just a few of the more common questions that arise when the topic of SharePoint DR comes up. As with most things SharePoint, the real answer to each question is oftentimes “it depends.” In this business and process-centric session, McDonough will take a look at the topic of SharePoint DR from multiple perspectives: business continuity planner, technical architect, platform owner, and others. Critical concepts and terms will be explained and defined, and an effective process for analyzing and formulating a disaster recovery plan will be discussed. He will also highlight some common mistakes that take place when working to build a DR strategy and how they can be avoided. By the end of this session, attendees will be armed with the knowledge needed to plan or review a disaster recovery strategy for their SharePoint environment.

    SharePoint Saturday is a free, educational and informative event filled with sessions from respected SharePoint professionals and MVPs covering a wide variety of SharePoint-orientated topics.
