Shocking Report: People Want To Relax With Marijuana

A report by the Spa database search engine SpaFinder showed that cannabis-themed treatment centers are growing in popularity as marijuana use becomes more and more acceptable.

The healing benefits of cannabis are garnering a lot of attention as several states push to legalize the drug. For that reason, spa owners are beginning to incorporate treatments based on the plant to serve customers eager to take advantage of the newly legal substance.

Rocky Mountain High

In Colorado where recreational weed has been legal for more than a year, Primal Wellness Co. has opened what it calls "The World's First Cannabis Infused Day Spa."

The company provides users with cannabis-infused treatments including everything from a massage to a manicure, all of which promise to relax and rejuvenate. The Spa doesn't allow smoking on the premises and promises that the treatments, applied topically, will not get customers high.

Pot Tourism

The public's growing interest in marijuana-themed spa treatments could be a product of the emerging popularity of pot-tourism. Many travelers are now flocking to Denver to experience marijuana legally in new ways.

From pot B&B's to cannabis infused spa treatments, the industry has created an entirely new market.

Can It Last?

Marijuana spa treatments are still somewhat of a novelty. Also, with marijuana legalization still in question in the U.S., some worry that the cannabis wellness trend could be short lived.

As the federal government still sees marijuana as an illegal substance, there is some concern that Colorado's thriving marijuana industry could have the rug pulled out from under it if federal laws prohibiting the drug's sale and use are enforced.
