Author Ram Sundaram shows readers two sides to each short story – one true, one false
Calgary, Alberta (PRWEB) February 24, 2012
“I Am Me” is a two-way book that presents 10 main themes through 20 short stories. Each individual theme is depicted through two different stories, one on either half of the book, where one version of a story represents the real, factual world, and the other reflects life’s fantastical, fictional side. Ultimately, it is up to each individual reader to decide which version of a story is factual and which one is tainted with embellishment.
“The structure of the book is an unusual and unique concept,” says Sundaram. “Seldom are readers given an opportunity to read two versions of the same story.”
Sundaram hopes the characters in “I Am Me” strike a familiar tone with readers. “There are many diverse characters,” he says, “but one common thread they share is that each one of them are on some kind of a journey of reflection, wherein they attempt to find answers to a pressing problem.”
“I Am Me” attempts to challenge the segregation of literature into "fact" and "fiction" as well as life into "reality" and "fantasy." As Sundaram explains, these labels are not mutually exclusive, for there is as much truth to every lie as there are lies in every truth. It is perception that paints the difference between these concepts.
