    New Short Story Collection Delights Readers With Wit and Humor

    Marcus Bethel comes up with half-true fabrications of actual people and events in his life in Scars and Stripes, a collection of short stories and narratives.

    Scars and Stripes derives from assignments and projects of the author’s college years, enhanced by the general knowledge received while growing up on a small island in the Grenadines. Having encountered loss, defeat and grief, Bethel deems all his experiences worthy of his latest book anthology.

    As fictional representations of the author’s experiences, Scars and Stripes flawlessly incorporates the author’s figurative account of his life’s dilemmas, such as his transition to New York life from the simple lifestyle back in a tiny island.     About the Author


    Born in Grenada on September 1969, Marcus D. Bethel grew up on a tiny Grenadine Island of Petite Martinique. He attended the only primary school on the island but later moved to the sister isle where he received a secondary education at the Bishop’s College Carriacou. After graduating in July 1986, he indulged himself in the seaman life only to be interrupted by a short stint as a teacher in 1988. After migrating to New York, he enrolled in Brooklyn College in the Fall of 2001, from where he graduated with a BFA in Creative writing. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
