Shu Qi lost Best Actress by one vote?

1 Dec - It was just one vote that separated Shu Qi from Karena Lam, which enabled the latter to win Golden Horse Awards' Best Actress and the former to return home with nothing, at least according to director Teddy Chan.

According to Seehua News, the Hong Kong director, who was part of the panel of jury, revealed that initially Karena won eight votes; Shu Qi, seven; while Zhao Tao and Sylvia Chang both earned one vote each.

However, since a nominee should win nine votes in order to win a category, the jury decided on a second round of voting between Karena and Shu Qi. It ended with Karena winning nine votes while Shu Qi, eight.

However, Teddy stressed that "The Assassin" star lost not because of her performance, but that Karena has a meatier role in "Zinnia Flower".

However, Golden Horse Committee CEO Wen Tianxiang and critic Lee Chao Tao denied Teddy's claim, saying that there are three stages of voting, and that Karena, Shu Qi, and Sylvia got the most votes in the second stage.

However, in the third stage, it was Karena who received the highest votes and that it wasn't determined by a difference of just one vote.
