The actress will join Liam Neeson and Felicity Jones on the set of the film adapted from Patrick Ness's children's book, reveals the Hollywood Reporter.
The children's fantasy novel "A Monster Calls" tells the story of Conor, a 13-year-old boy struggling to come to terms with his mother's terminal cancer. His fear of losing her haunts him through a recurring nightmare in which he is visited each night by a giant tree-like monster determined to tell him three stories.
Seen last spring in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," British actress Felicity Jones will play the ailing mother in the film adaptation, while Liam Neeson will play the tree monster. The latest addition to the cast, Sigourney Weaver will play the boy's cold and controlling grandmother.
Due for release on October 14, 2016 in the US, "A Monster Calls" is to be helmed by Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona, who is known for his thriller "The Orphanage."
