PARIS (AP) — Simona Halep evened up the French Open final against Maria Sharapova on Saturday, winning the second set 7-6 (5) after the Russian had won the first 6-4.

Halep, a Romanian who is playing in her first Grand Slam final, traded breaks with Sharapova over the last four games of the set. Twice she served for the set, and twice she was broken.

Sharapova overcame some shaky serving to win the first set 6-4. The seventh-seeded Russian has struggled with her serve this week and had four double-faults in the first set on Court Philippe Chatrier. She had four in the second as well.

Sharapova won the title at Roland Garros in 2012 to complete a career Grand Slam. She lost in last year's final to Serena Williams.
