Simplenote review

Simplenote allows you to take quick notes and pin the important ones with a tap, to make sure you won't miss them.

Pros

Clean, material design: By far the app's main appeal, the clean, straightforward material design offers a remarkably streamlined experience. With just a few taps, you can easily create or pin notes, or select multiple notes and trash them.

Extremely focused: Because this app only lets you add, pin, and delete notes, it can provide a concentrated experience that makes it easy for you to focus on completing your notes, rather than wasting time sorting or adding details to them. As the developer claims, this is indeed a speedy and effective note-taking app.

Makes note-sharing easy: You can easily share notes with others by adding email addresses as tags to notes.

Cons

No finish note button: After you've written your note, pressing the Return button on your keyboard merely moves the cursor one line down, and there's no Confirm or Finish button either. Instead, you must tap on the return arrow in the top-left corner of the screen to go back to the app's main window and end your note. This feels awkward.

Doesn't integrate swiping gestures: You can't swipe left or right to quickly delete a note but have to long-tap and then hit the trash button.

May seem rudimentary despite its straightforwardness: If you're used to Evernote or Google Keep's capabilities, you'll miss checklists, reminders, the ability to color-code notes, to easily rearrange them, or to attach photos.

Bottom Line

Unsophisticated and undemanding, Simplenote turns out to be one of the most accessible note-taking apps on Google Play. It's for those who want the most essential note-taking experience possible without ads, extra options, or any distractions. If you're looking for a bare-bones note-taking app with material design, this is a good choice. But if you need a few more features, stick to Evernote or Google Keep.
