Sleep Cycle review

An intelligent alarm clock, Sleep Cycle monitors your movement during sleep with your device's accelerometer and plays a smooth melody when you're in the lightest sleep phase, so that you'll wake up feeling rested and relaxed.

Pros

Surprisingly effective: With Sleep Cycle, the developers have managed to turn a great idea into a straightforward and practical app that after minimum configuration proves capable of monitoring your sleep and sounding the alarm at just the right time.

Nightly & longterm graphs: You can view sleep analyses for every night, including light sleep and deep sleep. Once you've used the app for five consecutive nights, you can access graphs that enable you to track your sleep quality over time to discover your best sleep nights.

Sleep Aid: This version of the app introduces Sleep Aid, a selection of soothing natural sounds that can ward off insomnia and send you snoring in no time.

Cons

Radiation risk: There is a growing concern worldwide about the radiation levels smartphones emit, and many experts recommend that you minimize smartphone usage and keep the device far from your person when you don't need it. To work, Sleep Cycle has to be placed close to your pillow, only inches away from your head.

Efficiency depends on mattress and placement: If you place your device too far away from you in bed, or if you sleep on a really hard mattress, the app will have problems detecting your movements, and the wakeup call may be unreliable.

Bottom Line

Easy to use and well-built, Sleep Cycle proves a great alarm clock. If you have to wake up early every morning to go to work or school, you should really try this app.
