'Sleeping Dogs' trailer spins crime game's racing credentials

Cars and bikes ahoy in open world crime game 'Sleeping Dogs'

It's not often that a Grand Theft Auto style game will sell itself on its motor racing strengths, but Sleeping Dogs' latest trailer does just that.

With over 65 cars, boats and bikes, street races, stunts, and vehicle-to-vehicle hijacking, it almosts looks as if 2012 title Sleeping Dogs is capable of straddling Grand Theft Auto's grit, Saints Row's silliness, and the Yakuza series's real life crime setting.

The game, once known as True Crime: Hong Kong, is a little bit of a departure for United Front Games, but at least their history with ModNation Racers (and the upcoming LittleBigPlanet Karting) explains some of the enthusiasm behind Sleeping Dogs' air, land, and sea-based shenanigans.
