In the wake of the unfavorable global economic conditions, small businesses are now turning to more cost effective solutions to market and promote their companies. http://www.logodesigncrew.com.au is a new Australian logo design website that offers easy access to low cost design services through crowd sourcing.
(PRWEB) August 25, 2011
The site works by allowing anyone in need of design to launch their own contest to a large community of graphic designers. These designers submit actual design work based on the client's design brief and compete for the prize amount offered by the client. Prize amounts start from $250 AUD. Depending on the type of contest launched, logo projects can expect to receive around 20-100+ logo design concepts. Traditional design studios generally offer 1-12 logo concepts.
The founder of site, Jamie Russ, has been a corporate branding specialist since 1993 and has run his own successful logo design company since 2002. Jamie has combined his professional experience with clients and designers to make the site as user friendly as possible.
Jamie explains that although he still runs a traditional design studio, it's not the solution for all small businesses. "We saw the need for more cost effective design services back in 2006... this is when we first had the idea for utilising crowd sourcing. Many start-up business cannot afford the usual design agency prices for a logo, which can range from $1000 to $20,000."
The new site has been in Beta for 12 months, going through extensive testing with both clients and designers. Jamie believes that one of the most important elements of running a design contest site is monitoring possible IP violations. Many systems and trials were put into place to effectively combat this issue. Copyright infringement can occur through any online design site. Jamie mentions that educating his designers coupled with the use of a reverse image search engine can almost eliminate potential IP violations. "Our design community is effectively policing themselves, something that some traditional design studios would struggle to do. Our clients feel comfortable in the knowledge that thousands of people can see these designs and make a report if they feel it's breaching copyright.
"It's not so much that any one is actually copying a logo," Jamie says, "it's more about a logo looking too similar to another logo already on the market. This happens all the time due to the sheer volume of new businesses starting up everyday. In fact, in the United states alone around 500,000 businesses startup each month. It's good to know that our designers are keeping an eye out for logos that look too similar, and that can potentially save our clients a small fortune in legal fees."
As of August 2011 the company had over 2000 registered designers from across the globe, with the majority based in the United States and Australia. The initial 800 designers were handpicked and invited personally by Jamie to build a solid base of high quality designers that set the standards for all new designers. "We have been overwhelmed by the quality of the work and invite any small business to check out the previous contests to verify this. It's truly amazing to see how many variations you can get based on one business' design brief."
Getting in contact with the company is simple with the inclusion of a telephone number at the top of the website coupled with a live chat window should potential clients have any questions prior to launching their own contest.
