According to the latest numbers from IHS iSuppli, smartphones will account for more than half of all phones on the market next year. Barron’s reports that that iSuppli’s newest data shows smartphones will make up 54% of the total phone market in 2013 and will make up a whopping two-thirds of all phones sold in 2016. Nielsen earlier this year reported that smartphones accounted for half of all mobile phone subscriptions in the United States and with an increasing focus on emerging markets, it shouldn’t be too surprising that smartphones are becoming standards rather than luxuries.
