Snickers intentionally publishes SI swimsuit issue ad with 11 errors

Can you spot them all?

For those who love spotting mistakes in print, this Snickers ad on the back of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue will really satisfy you.

The purveyors of the chocolate-nougat-caramel-peanut candy bar mocked the fashion industry's infamous Photoshop fail with an intentionally flubbed print ad featuring a bikini-clad model who has been absurdly airbrushed.

"Photo retouchers get CONFUSED when they're hungry," the ad, created by BBDO New York, states — implying that consuming a Snickers bar would have prevented the epic Photoshop fail. Inside SI's back cover, a similar Snickers ad shows a windblown swimsuit model mocking an SI photo shoot. ("Wind machine operators get loopy when they're hungry," the ad says.)

And in a brilliant bit of bonus marketing, Snickers is challenging its 250,000 Twitter followers to spot all the ad's errors. According to Ad Week, the company says there are 11.

The magazine itself, meanwhile, is doing what it can to combat the issue of retouching.

Sports Illustrated published three covers for its 2016 swimsuit issue, including one that featured plus-size model Ashley Graham.

"They did not retouch me," Graham told Access Hollywood. "They did not take out things. They didn’t reshape my body in any way, shape or form."

And an ad inside for the plus-size swimwear retailer Swimsuits for All featured 56-year-old model Nicola Griffin, the oldest swimsuit model to ever appear in its pages.

"I’m fed up of seeing only slim, twentysomething girls in advertisements," Griffin told Refinery29 earlier this week. "I can’t relate to size-0 models, and I can’t see myself in those clothes. Most people don’t have [the] perfect photoshopped body. By being 56 and wearing a bikini, hopefully I can empower women of my age to be sexy — not just when they’re wearing swimsuits."
