Social Shopping Site Fab.com Launches UK Platform, Acquires Llustre

Ecommerce website Fab.com is celebrating its first anniversary by launching Fab UK on Tuesday.

As a part of its British expansion, Fab is acquiring what was a UK competitor, online home goods hub Llustre.com. Launched in April 2012, Llustre.com, and similarly sold products from indie designers.

Fab and Fab UK will specialize in limited edition pieces and exclusive design-driven products. The company currently sells designs that cost $1 to $20,000. New products appear daily.

In a year since launch, Fab has about 5 million active users in 20 countries and sells products from 5,000+ designers. In the past year, more than 1.8 million products were purchased on Fab.com.

Other interesting facts about the fast-growing shopping network: Fab has offices in the U.S., the UK and Germany -- and wants to keep growing. That shouldn't be problem if the network continues to gain a million users every four months.

On the Fab.com news feed, visitors can comment, like and buy recently purchased products. Product shares onto Twitter and Facebook and also synced to the feed.

Being socially connected is doing great things for Fab. The website is seeing huge traffic numbers from Facebook and Twitter -- 50% of Fab.com's members come from social sharing. About 30% to 40% of Fab's daily visits are on mobile. This matches Fab mobile revenues, which account for 23 to 25% of overall weekly sales.
