Sophie Lambert: Body found during search for missing Harrogate woman

Police have confirmed that they have found a body in a river during a search for a woman who went missing five days ago.

Sophie Lambert, 22, vanished from her home in Harrogate on Friday night, sparking a massive hunt by North Yorkshire Police.

The force has now issued an update confirming that a body has been found in the River Nidd near Nidd Gorge on Wednesday morning.

The identity has yet to be confirmed but Lambert’s family have been informed of the discovery and are being supported.

Lambert was first reported missing from her home just after 10pm on Friday night, but was last seen leaving the house at 7.06pm that evening.

The force said extensive house-to-house inquiries had been carried out over the weekend before search teams combed woodland and the riverside in the nearby Nidd Gorge.

Officer previously said they were extremely concerned for her welfare and said items belonging to Lambert were found in the Gorge by a member of the public.
