Spanish English Translator review

Spanish English Translator comes with a straightforward interface that lets you input text in English or Spanish and translate it to Spanish or English with the tap of a button. This tiny app powered by Google Translate proves fairly accurate but suffers from ads and feels a bit too basic.

Pros

Powered by Google Translate: Since it essentially uses the same dictionaries as Google Translate, Spanish English Translator gets almost all the words and most of the phrases right. Sentences or paragraphs come out a bit rough sometimes, especially if you're translating from Spanish to English, but even so the app manages to capture the meaning of the text.

Straightforward interface: The app's main window is divided into two boxes, one for your input and the other for the result, and features only two buttons: To English and To Spanish. It doesn't get easier than this.

Requests no permissions: Many other translation apps do.

Cons

No offline mode: Since it requires an Internet connection to work, this app isn't the most reliable when you're traveling.

Looks like a Google Translate duplicate: While this app relies on Google Translate dictionaries and code, it doesn't introduce any features of its own.

Bothering ads: As you use this app you have to endure flashy banners that take up quite a bit of space, as well as fullscreen ads.

Bottom Line

While it works well enough, Spanish English Translator feels like an ad-rich, featureless version of Google Translate, with a clumsier interface. If you already use Google Translate, there's nothing this app can offer you that the latter doesn't have already. That said, if for whatever reason you don't want Google Translate on your device, you can give this app a go, especially since it won't ask for any permissions.
