Sporting rallies 2-1 over Braga, stays 2nd

LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Sporting Lisbon overcame an own goal to fight back for a 2-1 win over Braga, ensuring it remained in second place in the Portuguese league on Saturday.

Sporting remained unbeaten at home this season and closed to within two points of leader Benfica before it visits Belenenses on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Rui Patricio's own goal gave Braga the lead in the 36th, but Jefferson converted a penalty in the 70th to level after Vincent Sasso fouled Carlos Mane.

Striker Islam Slimani got the winner four minutes later to ruin the debut of Braga manager Jorge Paixao.

Also, fourth-place Estoril routed Olhanense 4-0 at home to pull to within three points of FC Porto before the defending champion visits Guimaraes on Sunday.
