Sri Lanka to bowl first in World T20 final

MIRPUR, Bangladesh (AP) — Sri Lanka captain Lasith Malinga won the toss and decided to bowl against India in the World Twenty20 final on Sunday.

India went in with an unchanged side while Sri Lanka brought in seam bowler Thisara Perera for legspinner Seekkuge Prasanna.

The match was delayed by 40 minutes after persistent drizzle led to a wet ground but there was no reduction in overs.

India, World Twenty20 champion in 2007, is in line to hold all three ICC titles at the same time. It also won the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Sri Lanka has played in the finals of the World Twenty20 in 2009 and 2012 but never won the title.

For Sri Lanka, victory would finally mean success at an ICC World tournament after four final appearances including World Cup finals in 2007 and 2011.
