Sri Lanka scores 160-6 against West Indies

MIRPUR, Bangladesh (AP) — Allrounder Angelo Mathews provided a late burst as Sri Lanka put up a fighting 160-6 against the West Indies in the World Twenty20 semifinal on Thursday.

Mathews, who came in at No. 6 in the 14th over, smashed 40 off 23 balls with three fours and two sixes.

Earlier, Lahiru Thirimanne (44) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (39) had helped recover from a mini collapse as Sri Lanka slipped from 41-0 to 49-3.

Thirimanne struck three fours and one six off 35 balls while Dilshan hit two fours and a six off 39.

For the West Indies, left-arm pace bowler Krishmar Santokie claimed 2-46.

India and South Africa are due to play the second semifinal on Friday.
