Staff and Students Subdue School Shooter at Seattle Pacific University

A gunman on the campus of Seattle Pacific University shot four people, killing one, before bystanders were able to subdue the shooter as he reloaded.

The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. local time, in a science building of the small private school near downtown Seattle. The gunman reportedly entered Otto Miller Hall and open fired with a shotgun, hitting four people. As he tried to reload, a student monitor tackled and held down the gunman with the help of others, preventing any more bloodshed. The suspect was taken into custody by police.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Another sustained "life threatening" injuries, while the other two were considered stable. The gunman and his motives have not been identified.

The campus was put on lockdown on Thursday afternoon as police searched for a second shooter, but the lockdown was quickly lifted and no other suspects are being sought.
