New Star Wars HD Movie Collection Coming to Xbox, PlayStation

Disney has announced a new Star Wars movie bundle--the Digital Movie Collection--which contains all six of the sci-fi classics for the first time in digital HD with extras including deleted scenes and more.

The movies arrive April 10 individually or through a bundle that contains the entire saga and will be sold at a variety of digital platforms, including Xbox and PlayStation. As you'd expect, some stores are offering extra incentives to convince you to buy through them.

Microsoft is giving away an R2-D2 (based on A New Hope) Xbox Live avatar, as well as the Star Wars Pinball Pack for free-to-play game Pinball FX 2 for Xbox One or Xbox 360. On top of that, anyone who pre-purchases the Star Wars Digital Movie Collection through Xbox will get a 60-second sneak peek at the bonus materials featured in the movies.

Sony has not announced any bonuses for buying the new Star Wars re-released through the PlayStation Store.

In terms of pricing, for Xbox Video at least, the complete bundle costs $100, while individual movies will be available for $20. Xbox Video is available online, as well as through apps for Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows 8, and Windows Phones.

The next new Star Wars movie is December's Star Wars: Episode VII -- The Force Awakens. Meanwhile, Electronic Arts will reveal new information about Star Wars: Battlefront later this month.
