On Tuesday, popular coffee chain Starbucks Corp (SBUX) will begin delivering coffee and food in New York City’s Empire State Building. The 12,000 employees who work in the city’s famous skyscraper will now be able to place orders on a designated company website, and have their preferred coffee and sustenance delivered within a 30 minute time frame.

Dubbed Green Apron Delivery, this new service is, according to a company news release, “designed for a dense urban environment.”

“New York City has always inspired us to consider new ways to innovate for our growing store portfolio and I cannot think of a better location to launch one of the most frequently requested services,” said Cliff Burrows, group president, U.S. and Americas.  “With Starbucks Green Apron Delivery, we’ve simply moved that moment of connection between our customer and the barista from our place to theirs.”

Starbucks will charge a flat $2 delivery fee, and orders are capped to 15 items. There is no tipping option yet, and employees are urged to politely decline any tips offered. Orders will be delivered to a selected drop off area, like a reception desk for example. The service will be housed in a space in the back of Empire State Building’s Starbucks Express lobby location.

It’s also important to note that customers must be enrolled in the company’s loyalty program in order to place online delivery orders.

Green Apron Delivery adds to Starbuck’s recent nationwide expansion of its mobile ordering platform, both of which add to the company’s growing commitment to convenience and quickness.

“The Empire State Building is a true urban campus within a building in New York City and we’re always looking for new ways to ensure that the environment we offer creates the opportunity for maximum productivity for our tenants and their employees,” said Anthony E. Malkin, Chairman and CEO of Empire State Realty Trust. “This Starbucks Delivery pilot will unite two iconic brands to bring New Yorkers hard at work in our offices an innovative experience and added convenience to their daily routine.”

According to the news release, the first Starbucks Green Apron delivery went to the Observatory Director of the Empire State Building, Jean-Yves Ghazi.

Seattle residents can expect Starbucks to roll out a delivery service in their city through a partnership with Postmates, a delivery service company, by the end of this year.
