    The Stars will Shine in Palm Springs in Support of Children and Adults with Disabilities

    The star-studded CCBC Golf Tournament to benefit Rehabilitation Foundation of Disabled Persons, US, a subsidiary of March of Dimes Canada

    Athletes, actors, even a World Wrestling Entertainment Legend will be on hand at the Desert Dunes Golf Club on February 11th, 2012 to support programs for people with disabilities.

    The Canada California Business Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to growing investment and job creation on both sides of the border, has teamed up with the Rehabilitation Foundation of Disabled Persons, US a subsidiary of March of Dimes Canada, to host a celebrity golf tournament that will both raise funds to support expanding the charity’s programming in Western Canada, and help encourage Canadian investment into Palm Springs.

    Guests will have the chance to meet and mingle with such notables including:


    •     Champion wrestler Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart,

    •     National Hockey League stars Luc Robitaille, Dennis Hull and Val Bure

    •     Former Major League Baseball player turned actor, most recently seen in Moneyball, Royce Clayton

    •     Actor Jeremy Sumpter, best known for Friday Night Lights

    •     Actor Matthew St. Patrick, best known for Six Feet Under

    •     Former National Football League and Canadian Football League player Singor Mobley

    •     Actress Kate Linder of The Young and The Restless

    •     Stefanie Schaeffer - winner of The Apprentice

    •     Canadian actress Sheila Shah of Saw V

    •     Local radio personality Julie Buehler and many more to come

    The tournament will also feature government and business leaders both working in the US and Canada in the fields of business development, law, politics, and entertainment.

    Winter-weary Canadians looking for an escape from the cold have been breathing life into Palm Springs. Every January more than 3,000 Canadians a week fly into Palm Springs. Over the last year, 80% of homes purchased Palm Springs were by Canadians, Canadians are the #1 foreign employer by size of payroll in Riverside County, Desert Dunes Golf Club, the host of the golf tournament is Canadian-owned, with more than 35 employees.

    In 2009, the Canada California Business Council’s Golf Classic was featured on ET Canada, and drew a live television audience of more than 800,000 people according to the show’s producers.
