Staten Island President Calls Lady Gaga a 'Slut'
Poor Lady Gaga. She's got the tabloids going all nuts about her weight, and now the Staten Island Borough President has, rather bluntly, called her a "slut."

At a launch event for an anti-substance abuse initiative aimed young people, the Staten Island beep James Molinaro railed on Gaga as he displayed a picture of the pop singer lighting up a spliff at a recent concert in Amsterdam, featured on a poster that read "Stop glorifying drug use in the media." Per John M. Annese of the Staten Island Advance:
"There's Gaga. Here's this ... this ... I would call her a slut. This slut is influencing many, many children ... and it's right to do. It's fine, it's part of it," he noted sarcastically.
"My niece has two daughters, 12 and 14, [and] they love this woman. Why? Why?"
Molinaro then continued: "To me, she's not an actress, she's a slut ... in the pure meaning of the word." Which, hm, what exactly is the "pure meaning" of the word "slut"? Well, according to Merriam-Webster it can mean "a slovenly woman," "a promiscuous woman; especially : prostitute," or "a saucy girl : minx." So, exactly what we thought the word "slut" meant.

Of course not everyone has to approve of Mme. Gaga's faux-outre shtick, but we suspect Molinaro might not even have a firm grasp on who she is — because, of course, she's not an actress. She's a singer! A spliff-smoking, crazy costume-wearing singer. Let's get the facts straight before we insult people. But regardless of what Molinaro thinks Lady Gaga does for a living, he shouldn't use that word anyway.

Update Gaga has incited something of a borough war with Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer speaking out for her. "Lady Gaga’s work is a symbol of individuality and artistic expression. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she is a social justice activist and a real leader for marriage equality in this country," Stringer told the New York Observer's Politicker. He added: "And no matter which continent Gaga happens to be in today, she remains an Upper West Sider at heart." Take that, Staten Island.
