Steven Spielberg In Talks to Direct 'No Easy Day' Movie
There are already two movies coming out this fall about the Bin Laden raid, and now apparently there's going to be a third. The New York Post's Page 6 reports the new book from a Navy SEAL Team 6 member is going to be turned into a movie, and Steven Spielberg is in talks to direct.

The other two Bin Laden movies are coming from hollywood heavy hitters, too. Columbia Pictures is releasing Zero Dark Thirty, with The Hurt Locker director and Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow at the helm, in December. Meanwhile, Harvey Weinstein is pushing his smaller Bin Laden movie, Code Name Geronimo, directed by John Stockwell, for an October release.

The new book, No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama bin Laden, is written by a former SEAL Team 6 member under the pseudonym Mark Owen. Fox News outed Owen as 36-year-old recently retired SEAL Team member Matt Bissonnette. Page 6 reports that Bissonnette has already been in talks with Dreamworks to put out a movie based on the book, and Steven Spielberg is in talks to direct. Considering the movie is only in the early stages of development right now, it likely won't be released until sometime in 2013. That's super late to the Bin Laden-movie party, but with a heavyweight like Spielberg behind the camera being late probably won't affect the movie's critical or box office potential.

Plus, they have the best source material to work with. Zero Dark Thirty had special access to CIA files to make sure their facts were right, to the point that Leon Panetta had to assure people no classified information was leaked, but a No Easy Day movie would have the official account of a member on the ground the day Bin Laden was killed.
