    Stock futures fall as Greece fails to OK all cuts

    Associated Press – Thu, Feb 9, 2012

    NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stock futures are falling after Greek leaders failed to accept the entire batch of new austerity measures demanded by creditors, leaving its bailout in limbo.

    Dow Jones industrial futures are down 17 points at 12,826. The broader S&P 500 futures are down 3 points to 1,344. Nasdaq composite futures are down 7 points to 2,538.

    The Greek finance minister is headed to Brussels to meet his counterparts from the other 17 euro countries, hoping to rescue the €130 billion ($173 billion) bailout and stave off bankruptcy.

    The prevailing view in the markets has been that Greece will avoid defaulting on its debts next month.

    Investors also will be looking to an 8:30 a.m. ET report on U.S. unemployment claims for signals on the strength of the job market.

        wow! you dont seem tooo sceptic to me after this statement! How could a country of 11 millions ruin whole world market? Cant you see there are so many other issues on the background? Be sure there are many others to come and be in position worst that this of Greece...and those are both sides of Atlantic ocean....

      I have been noticing that these declines happen right after the first week of each month. Right after everyones money for their 401Ks and IRAs have placed it in the market. So we get to buy high and then next week they aren't worth as much

      here we go again, stocks are up because there is a deal with greece, stocks are down because there is no deal in greece. same roller coaster

      They should let them default and start foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings. Put all their historical buildings and artifacts up for sale, that would probably settle the debt.

        it seems you support those who want to humiliate Greece, make it weak enough to steal then their rich natural resources and exploit the maximun their virgin petrol areas in Aegean sea...Of course as you said historical sites can also be in the list, since such a civilization should be stealt when others cant never be achived!
