    Stone House Global Markets, the international diamond investment company, are set to represent professional investors at an auction for a highly valued, rare yellow diamond.

    The Vivid Yellow Diamond, as it has been named, will be on display at a jewellery and gem auction at Christie’s in New York on October 18, where it is expected to sell for up to £4.8 million.

    Stone House Global Markets have been appointed to represent five potential buyers at the auction and the company’s highly reputable and experienced brokers Anna Sawyer and Michael Brown will be attending the auction taking place in New York.

    The 32.77 carat yellow diamond is extremely rare and the clear colour and yellow hue that the pear shaped diamond gives off is very intense. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) have ranked it in the rarest category of gemstones and amazingly only around one in ten million diamonds have a colour this pure in order to be regarded as ‘fancy vivid’.

    The gem was on show to potential investors at Christies in London during August and attracted a lot of European interest from all quarters. The stone has the chance to surpass the holding per-carat price for diamonds when it is sold, aiming for the current record set in 1990, when the Golden Drop yellow diamond of 18.49 carats was sold at Christie’s in London for £124,000.

    This potentially record breaking auction could set new highs for diamond investment rates and growth. However, if the £4.8 million price tag is too much, Stone House Global Markets also deal with clients looking to invest in the more manageable categories, including those dealing with under £10,000, between £10,000 and £50,000 and over £50,000 for traditional and coloured diamonds.
