Storm chances return Tuesday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Warm air sticks around for the start of this week, fueling storm chances mid-week.

TUESDAY

Although likely a dry start to the day, it will be quite warm and humid. A warm front will spark a round of showers and storms near midday. A second wave of storms is expected to spark in the evening.

The evening round of storms may have enough support to produce pockets of severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas north of I-96 in a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) while points south approaching I-94 and the Indiana state line have a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) on Tuesday.

The top threats look to be damaging wind and hail although an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out.

COOLER, ACTIVE END OF THE WEEK

After a sunny and mild Wednesday, rain returns Thursday. Severe weather is not expected. Highs will drop into the 60s on Thursday and remain there for the following week.

A rather unsettled pattern holds into the weekend as well. These rounds simply look to be scattered showers.
