Studio Ghibli adapts world's oldest manga into short animated film
Proving once again that whatever it touches turns to gold, acclaimed Japanese production house Studio Ghibli, adapted a 12th century picture scroll into a magnificent animated short.
While you'll still have to wait months before its long-awaited animated film The Red Turtle hits the big screens, you can still get your Ghibli fix with this 30-second spot.
Adapted from the picture scrolls called Choju Jinbutsu Giga, which is considered the earliest records of Japanese manga, this short brings to life black-and-white drawings of animals frolicking in the wild.
Commissioned by Japanese energy company, Marubeni Shin Denryoku, this animated commercial seeks to highlight ecological issues that the the modern world is quick to forget about.
