    Study of Mesothelioma Victims Underscores Disease’s Devastating Impact, New York Asbestos Lawyer Says

    A new study that will look at how mesothelioma affects patients’ emotional and physical well-being could provide a more complete picture of the disease’s toll on victims and families, New York mesothelioma attorney Joseph W. Belluck said today.

    New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center announced last week that it is conducting an investigation into how mesothelioma patients cope with the deadly disease in hopes of devising ways to reduce their psychological and physical strains.

    “During the years I’ve spent fighting for the legal rights of people who contracted mesothelioma from asbestos exposure, I’ve seen what a crushing effect the disease can have both on the victims and their loved ones,” said Belluck, a New York asbestos exposure attorney and partner of Belluck & Fox, LLP.

    Mesothelioma is an aggressive asbestos-related cancer that affects the lining of the lungs. The disease doesn’t respond to many standard cancer treatments, and victims usually face a dire prognosis — often living only 4-18 months after diagnosis.

    Many victims of mesothelioma contracted the disease because they were exposed to workplace asbestos, according to Belluck.

    “As you might expect, patients often react to the grim news of a mesothelioma diagnosis by becoming depressed and overwhelmed at the weight of it all,” the New York lawyer said. “The same is true for their loved ones and families.”

    The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center study is entitled “Mesothelioma from a Patient Perspective: A Survey of Psychosocial Needs and Exploration of Online Support for Patients.” One of its aims is to evaluate the possibility of developing ways of delivering emotional support to mesothelioma patients over the Internet.

    Belluck, the New York mesothelioma lawyer, said he welcomed any developments that could improve the quality of life for the roughly 3,000 Americans who are diagnosed with mesothelioma every year.

    “This asbestos-related disease clearly is emotionally devastating for its victims, but the economic impact is also very significant when it comes to expensive treatments and lost wages,” Belluck said.


    Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is in the process of recruiting mesothelioma patients to take part in the study, which is scheduled to wrap up in May 2013.

      PRWeb is a attorney website disguised to look like a news article from a news agency. This is another indication of how low these vulture, low life attorneys will go to fish for clients of any kind for any cause to clog our justice system and cause corporations and businesses to waste their time on unfounded baseless claims. I would not select these attorneys to represent me, they are just fly by night, get litigation over with as quickly as possible and move on to the next victim.

      ...asbestos is perfectly safe. so we were told in the 50s . it was a big money maker and guess who the manufacturers bought? our congress....just as they do today. this is not news or new. the problem is corporate control of the United States....money buys 'government'.

      I lost a good friend last Sept to tthis disease, only it was in the lining of her organs. She was diagnosed in June, had surgery in early July and died two mos later. It was so sad and shocking to all of us to see her go that quick.

      Millions of people have worked with asbestos and never get mesothelioma. You will not find single mesothelioma patient who has not smoked. Asbestos feeds into the disease, but it is still caused by smoking and not by asbestos alone. So don't smoke, and mesothelioma patients, admit that you also had a role in the disease and it wasn't all your employer's fault. Then get your lawyer to admit it.
