    Summary Box: Retail sales rebound in January

    RETAIL SALES RISE: Americans rebounded from a weak holiday season and stepped up spending on retail goods in January. Retail sales rose 0.4 percent, the Commerce Department said Tuesday, after a flat reading in December.

    AUTO SALES DROP: Spending on autos fell in January, the report showed, even though automakers had previously reported higher sales. That suggests dealers offered discounts to boost sales. In addition, many auto sales were likely to rental companies and other businesses, rather than retail customers.

    GOOD SIGN FOR GROWTH: The increase suggests that hiring gains have boosted consumer confidence and are encouraging more people to spend.

      Another feel-good headline based on nothing.

      Sales fell everywhere. Any increases come from dramatic price increases and those fake "seasonal adjustments" the government always uses in their favor.

      The average Joe doesn't have any money to spend and is already tapped out on credit. This is just bait to placate you while the whole world burns to the new world order bonfire.
