    Summary Box: Toyota lifts outlook as woes fade

    STILL HURTING: Toyota's third-quarter profit slid 13.5 percent as it continued to cope with production setbacks caused by last year's earthquake and tsunami in Japan and flooding in Thailand, but Japan's top automaker raised its annual earnings forecast.

    THE NUMBERS: Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday that it earned 80.9 billion yen ($1.05 billion) for October to December, down from 93.6 billion yen a year earlier. Its revenue was 4.865 trillion yen ($63.4 billion), up 4.1 percent

    LOOKING UP: Showing confidence in its ability to bounce back, the manufacturer of the Prius gas-electric hybrid, Lexus luxury models and the Camry sedan raised its annual profit forecast to 200 billion yen ($2.6 billion) from 180 billion yen ($2.3 billion). But the higher forecast remains less than half of Toyota's profit for the previous year.
