Sundance Channel Rolls Out On France’s Orange TV

PARIS– AMC Networks International has closed a pact with Orange, France’s leading telco group, to launch Sundance Channel Global on Orange Cinema Series.

The deal will allow Sundance Channel to significantly extend its reach in France. The U.S. net kicked off on Orange’s TV package on Oct. 8 as a 24/7 linear channel.

“AMC Networks International has experienced record-breaking growth with new distribution agreements on television platforms around the world and we’re looking forward to working closely with Orange to deliver original dramatic series as well as the best in independent cinema,” said Bruce Tuchman, president of AMC and Sundance Channel Global.

Sundance Channel Global, which is already distributed in France via SFR-Numericable and Bouygues, is likely aiming to co-produce and/or acquire more international and local content. The channel broadcasts original drama series such as “Rectify” (pictured above), “The Red Road”, “The Walking Dead” and “Mad Men” in France.

The network, launched in 1996 by the Sundance Film Festival, showcases indie feature films and documentaries, including exclusive titles that premiered at the fest.
