‘Supergirl’ actress responds to Jeb Bush’s ‘hot’ comment

When “Supergirl” debuts on Monday night, at least one presidential candidate will be watching: Jeb Bush.

The former Florida governor and 2016 Republican hopeful made headlines last week for his unsolicited compliment of the show’s star, Melissa Benoist.

During an onstage Q&A with the Libre Initiative in Las Vegas, Bush was asked who his favorite Marvel superhero is.

“I don’t know,“ Bush replied. “I’m kind of old-school. I like the old-school guys, like Batman. A little dark these days.”

Bush continued: “I saw that there’s a new ‘Supergirl’ on TV — I saw that while I was working out this morning, there was an ad. She looked kinda … she looked pretty hot. I don’t know which channel it’s on, but I’m looking forward to that.”

In an appearance on “CBS This Morning” Monday, Benoist, 27, was asked if she had heard about the 62-year-old candidate’s comments — and couldn’t contain her laughter.

“I heard about it, but I don’t know what I think about it,” the new “Woman of Steel” said, laughing. “I’m glad he’s excited to watch the show.”

Benoist added: “I think everyone would be able to take something from it, but I would really love to reach young girls, and to be a good role model for them.”
