Supreme Court will consider challenge to affirmative action at University of Texas

Admitting someone just because they're black is the same as denying someone just because they are black. "I have a dream, that one day my children will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character". MLK. I don’t know why this is so hard for race bating bigots to understand this. Leave race off admission forms. Sheesh.

I don't see why this is so hard. Treat all applicants equally. 'Nuff said.

Affirmative action should be repealed once and for all.

Affirmative action is now just discriminating against whites (but that's ok, right?) How about whoever is QUALIFIED gets the job, the slot, the political office, the promotion you name it. The world is full of affirmative action idiots that have risen above their level of competence in all arenas.

It seems so simple, on college applications, do not include race as a response on the application, then everey applicant is treated without regard to race...because youdon't know what it is.

I get tired of goups, any groups, that want equal rights but special treatment.

This time around the court is being asked to jettison that ruling and outlaw affirmative action in the university setting.

Long over do, admission ought be based on grades not color of skin. This should be the same in college sports. Affirmative action ought be dismantled altogether as it has gone on for long enough and now servers no purpose except to discriminate against other races.

Glad to see others that think like me. Your skin color should have absolutely not a thing to do with your success in life. If a white kid is passed over for a black kid, that's racism by definition. Thing is, you could change white or black in the last sentence and whatever you'd put there would be wrong. You should progress in life based on your merits and accomplishments. Period.

Why isn't there affirmative action in college and professional sports? Where is the White Congressional Caucus that excludes other races? Double standards maybe?

Affirmative action is clear racism. The very definition of racism is treating someone different positively or negatively based on race. Any school that takes in students because of race not academics is racism. There is no other way to define affirmative action but blatant court mandated racism.

why would the court stop at "the university setting" if they think that affirmative action is wrong? if it's wrong at a university, then it's wrong everywhere.

Its blatant discrimination to correct past discrimination....It is against the law to use race as a factor in admission or hiring .....it doesn't say race only applies to white race or caucasion...It is the most ridiculous law ever made and really doesn't help AA people it simply accepts that they can't compete on a level playing field and institutionalizes discrimination against whites and asians

No application for ANYTHING should give any preference to ANYONE for ANY reason. Affirmative action needs to be abolished now! How long does it take to learn that you cannot tell people who to hire, where to go to school, where to live, what to eat etc? How many years has affirmative action been in affect? Neighborhoods are no better, school children are not educated any better and the unemployment rate is probably in all reality about 12% nationwide average. It doesn't work people!

If those admitted under Affirmative Action want respect, they have to earn their way in without Affirmative Action. It's as simple as that.

That is one reason this president is not respected.

Also, he's so dumb he won't let us see his grades.

It's ironic that those who truly want a color blind society are portrayed as racists by the very people who seem to think about nothing but race.

Too bad they did not do this BEFORE Obummer got invited to go to Harvard and Columbia as a foreign student getting US financial aid.

Think people should be treated differently because of the color of their skin? Odds are overwhelming you're liberal. Agree whole-heartedly with Dr. King's "Dream?" You're a conservative. But you need to be aware that if you want everyone to be treated the same no matter their race, you'll be branded the racist by those who actually do evaluate people by their pigmentation. Yes, they're that confused.

Affirmative Action is here because it is institutionally understood that Blacks cannot compete on a level playing ground WITHOUT THE EXTRA HELP. Ask those liberals why its not racist.
