Suspect Arrested in Murders of Maryland Woman and 2-Year-Old Daughter

Police in Maryland have made an arrest related to the murders of a second-grade teacher and her 2-year-old daughter whose bodies were found Tuesday morning, PEOPLE confirms.

The suspect's name is being withheld, according to a spokesperson from the Prince George's County police.

Just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday, police were called to the home of a friend of NeShante Alesha Davis, 26, whose daughter is Chloe Nichole Davis-Green.

Responding officers found Davis dead from an apparent gunshot wound, and the little girl in her mother's car, which was parked nearby. The child, who was also shot, died a short while later at an area hospital.

Several Maryland-based media outlets are reporting that police have arrested Chloe's father, Daron Boswell-Johnson, for Tuesday's killings, but the police spokesperson would not confirm this to PEOPLE.

Court records obtained by PEOPLE indicate Davis and Boswell-Johnson had been embroiled in a paternity dispute that ended late last year when the court affirmed he was the biological father and ordering him to pay $600 a month in child support to Davis.
