I am a Christian, and I have to say that God never mentioned to me that we were supposed to run around beating people up, in fact I think that he said, through his Son, "Love thy neighbor as thyself", but I could be mistaken

So what if he was gay; he wasn't bothering anyone, there was no need to beat him. When are some people going to learn to respect others and must importantly to respect life.

Where to start? I have to bullet my comments and I'll try to be brief.
To ANONYMOUS: Yes, people do 'choose' to do heroin, pierce their noses and tattoo their faces, but their reasoning is not hormonal.
To ANDOY: You stated, "If a gay man goes without sex for 2 months, he will get aroused by a female." Why "aroused", I thought you said it is a "choice". It also stands to reason, based on your logic, that if a heterosexual man goes without sex for 2 months than he can be aroused by another man. As a heterosexual, I was once celibate for 4 years, and that was in my 20s. During that time, did I get "aroused"? Of course, I was in my 20s! But I never was once attracted to another man, only the opposite sex. Pay up!
To JOSHUA: You don't suck what you don't suck, due to the fact that your not "attracted" to that particular body part; it's not because you "chose" not to. I'm assuming your a full blown heterosexual, so allow me to run this scenario past you. By 'your' standards, a beautiful women undresses in front of you and her firm stack is in front of your face, do you (A) think about what you need to do to have an erection? or (B) it just happens?...no thinking about it...no "choices" running through your head, blood rushes to where it needs to be and your ready to plow her like a farm. To SYDB67: Your argument is weak. You stated, "If this same gang beat me up, they wouldn't get punished as much because I'm not gay." Would they have beat this guy up if he had 'not' been gay? No, of course not; besides, the reason for the crime in the first place was because he 'was' gay. But don't worry, there are hate crime laws to protect us also - race, ethnicity, etc.
To BUCKLEY'S ANGEL: Pedophiles 'chose' no more than gays or heterosexuals. If I have the urge to have sex with a well endowed 15 year old female in the US, than I'm considered a perverted pedophile that should be hung by my nuts, but if I act on that same urge to have sex with the same female in Mexico, than it's considered completely normal. The urge is the same whether it be in the US or Mexico, it's the cultural views, and hence laws, that are different.
To JCRAB: Yes, 'preference' is a choice, just like me choosing to be with one female over another female...but it will 'always' be someone of the 'female' gender, due to a biological, physical attraction...not by choice.

I wouldn't call someone possibly being murdered as 'when you see something going wrong'. Those words are far too soft to descibe this kind of crime, and they denigrate the victim, while allowing the perpetrator to seem far more innocuous than he is.

Hey everyone, read the comment from 'Charles' below. Somebody from the Westboro Baptshist Church posing as a normal human being. I think 'Charles' is actually a woman - kind of hard to tell - even in person. Anyway, if you want to imagine a life in damnation - imagine being married to that.

I don't see this story as being sad because these idiots beat a gay man... I see it as sad because they beat a human being! What the heck is wrong with ppl these days??!! I hope to God that I manage to teach my children the right way to live... that violence does not get you anything except more violence in the end... Maybe if ppl thought about what their parents would think of them if they found out about their actions, there would be less violence in this world!

I don't care if you're straight or not. NOBODY should have to go through what this man went through, and whoever did it needs to be punished for what they did to him. I agree w/ Rusty K that this week has been nuts, too.
