Syfy Renews Z Nation for Season 2 Because Z Nation Has Zombies in It

Look out, The Walking Dead! That back-alley knock-off Z Nation is hot on your heels! Syfy has renewed its zombie drama for a second season, says The Hollywood Reporter. The decision comes midway through the series' ridiculous, and sometimes even fun, first season.

Z Nation is produced by The Asylum, the same mastermind production studio behind Sharknado and all 40 of the Sharknado sequels that will continue to rain down on us until Syfy's headquarters is eventually destroyed. The series stars Tom Everett Scott as a dude charged with follows an ever-rotating group of survivors as they escort a man who might be humanity's last hope on a cross-country trip; so far, it's featured a zombie baby, a zombie dog, and a gun-toting family of four—cute kids included—whose main objective was to pillage the countryside.

It's no secret that Z Nation is aping The Walking Dead in an attempt to woo even a fraction of the hit series' audience—but Z Nation puts a lot more emphasis on being insane and spends a lot less time yammering about who should to be the leader of its primary group of survivors. The show has found a nice little home on Friday nights, and I have been known to drink lots of whiskey, fire it up on my TV, and laugh a lot. Especially when zombie babies are shot up in a hailstorm of bullets.
