Syria: Security Council members support terrorism

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Syria's foreign minister is accusing some U.N. Security Council members of supporting "terrorism" in the country, an attack clearly aimed at the U.S. and its allies who are supporting the opposition.

Walid al-Moallem told the U.N. General Assembly on Monday that peace requires action not only by Syria but by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Libya and others to stop arming and financing the opposition.

He said calls for President Bashar Assad to step down are "blatant interference" in Syrian domestic affairs.

Al-Moallem called for a political solution and Syrian-led dialogue to agree on a roadmap to a more democratic country.

He invited the opposition to "work together to stop the shedding of Syrian blood."
