Syrian father reunited with son after suspected chemical weapons attack

United Nations inspectors headed on Wednesday to the Eastern Ghouta area in Damascus, Syria's capital, to try to find evidence of a chemical weapons attack.

It might be some time before the world finds out results. But in East Ghouta's Zamalka neighborhood this week, at least a father found his young son, whom he lost track of after Syrian forces allegedly attacked the area with chemical weapons on Aug. 21.

There's a lot we don't know about this video, which was uploaded to YouTube on Monday, though it is confirmed to be from East Ghouta.

The story unfolds slowly, along with discussion of the chaos in Zamalka after the attack, when families were separated. The son, who appears to be about 2, is brought to a male relative outside his house at the 0:18 mark, and clearly, men in the neighborhood are overjoyed at the reunion. A voice heard says the father did not know where his son was after the attack.

Then, the camera follows everyone inside, and the news is delivered to the boy's father, who emerges to chants of "Allahu Akbar" (God is great). At the 2:50 mark, the boy's father is shown crying, and at 4:20 he cuddles his son as the crowd engages in prayer.
