Talib Kweli Was Attacked by “Bigots” in Copenhagen This Weekend

Talib Kweli was accosted this weekend, but it wasn’t for an autograph. The rapper was in town to play a show, and was visiting one of his “favorite places in the world,” the Danish district Christiania. That part of town is well-known for its lax drug laws, but that wasn’t the issue this past weekend. Here’s what Talib said went down, via his Instagram:
I’ve been hearing about Danish racism on the rise. I witnessed it firsthand. I was attacked by two bigots last night saying they ‘hate me’ and they didn’t even know who I was, they just didn’t like the color of my skin. It wasn’t an Internet attack, it was physical. I was hit and kicked.
Talib went on to play the show as scheduled, but you can read his full, disheartening message below:
